Baffin Bay Fishing Report – March 18, 2025: Trout Moving Shallow

March 18, 2025

Warming water means Mother Nature is signaling to trout that the spawn is near.

Big trout head shallow and feed aggressively to build up energy before releasing their eggs. Once water temps climb and hold between 75–80 degrees, the spawn will kick off—but here on Baffin Bay, that’s still a few weeks out, as usual.

Both plastics and Texas Custom Lures’ Softdines are working well right now. Focus your efforts in knee-deep to waist-deep water where mullet activity is highest.

Good luck, see you on the water!

What Capt. Sally's Guests Have to Say!

This was my 2nd trip w/ Sally and I took my wife with me. While the weather wasn’t the best, we were able to catch my wife’s PB 27″ trout and Sally caught a 28″ trout. We also caught 3 slot trout and 1 slot red. As always, Sally is a pro with deep knowledge and expertise. But more importantly, she is a great person and a lot of fun!
