Baffin Bay Fishing Report – January 12, 2026

Riviera, Texas

Very low water levels continue to concentrate both fish and fishermen across Baffin Bay.

The winter solstice reliably brings lower water levels this time of year, but the upside is improved access to deeper drop-offs where fish tend to stage when water temperatures are colder. These deeper edges and transitions are key areas to focus on right now.

The big trout game still comes down to finding concentrations of bait near the areas you want to fish. Spend time locating bait first, and the trout won’t be far behind.

Lure selection has been very consistent. The Texas Custom Softdine XL and Texas Custom Corky Fat Boy are producing the best results. When the sun is shining and the water is clear, lighter and sparkly colors are the way to go. On cloudy days, in stained water, or during windy conditions, darker colors like Dark Vader or Boogeyman have been the most effective.

Good luck, and I’ll see you on the water!

What Capt. Sally's Guests Have to Say!

This was my 2nd trip w/ Sally and I took my wife with me. While the weather wasn’t the best, we were able to catch my wife’s PB 27″ trout and Sally caught a 28″ trout. We also caught 3 slot trout and 1 slot red. As always, Sally is a pro with deep knowledge and expertise. But more importantly, she is a great person and a lot of fun!

Sally is exceptional and knows Baffin Bay extremely well. We fished hard with the wind as it increased during the daytime. Enjoyed it all, even though I didn’t catch a big one.
