2010 Curlew by NewWater Boatworks

My boat sponsor for 2010 again is NewWater Boatworks, the maker of the revolutionary shallow water craft called the Curlew! 

This is my third year in this boat, but I have to say that the 2010 model is the most impressive boat I have EVER driven.  It goes without saying that the Curlew is the most elegant, performance-driven shallow water boat on the water today.  But add to that a new patented feature called "Lamivent" by owner/designer Tim Clancey, and you've got a combination that will make your jaw drop.

This boat has a 115 Yamaha engine on it, which gives the Curlew tons of power and a top speed in real-world conditions, with passengers, at around 33 mph.  Engage the "Lamivent" and you better be hanging on to your hat.  Once the "Lamivent" has cleared the tunnel of water, this boat jumps up over 42 mph, without even touching the throttle (unless you get a little chicken and have to drop it back!).

NewWater Boatworks is pleased to introduce its new Lamivent^TM.  This technology is currently available on all NewWater boats.  The tunnel design on NewWater boats is the most efficient on the market, but as with all tunnels, they still create a certain amount of drag and resistance.  Our new technology basically gives the shallow draft performance NewWater owners have all come to know yet also provides the ability to empty the tunnel, lower the engine, decrease the resistance and increase the speed on command.  With this innovation, speed increases a minimum of 10% on all applications to as much as 23% on others.  No data has been gathered regarding fuel savings, but it is estimated that it will be even greater than speed gains.
When you experience this new innovation, you will be astonished at the way you can be running along, lower the engine on the jack, push a button, rpm increases by 1000, speed increases, trim angle changes and ride quality improves. When needing to go shallow, simply with the push of a button, the tunnel goes laminar, and up goes the engine..

Set up for shallow water sightcasting, poling, hauling kayaks, speed, power and distance, I think I have found a boat that can almost "do it all"! Thank you Tim for helping me to envision this "boat of a lifetime"!
